The difference in the former case might be the result either of lack of the knowledge and technique by which the adult's work is informed or of chance.

It does seem to be the case that random elements may enter in at various stages of a creative or discovery process. They may provide the impetus for a discovery, as in the case of penicillin, or the inspiration for a creation, as might a chance meeting provide the subject matter for a poem. They may enter in at a later stage, triggering the solution to a problem or being incorporated into a work in progress. Nonetheless, the informed participation of the creator is still necessary at some point.

Literature, for example, is necessarily filled with ideas and information, to use Bell's terminology, and there does not seem to be any justification for degrading its status because of its conceptual content. It does not detract from the formal aspects. Similarly, there are works of visual art in which what is represented is obviously not irrelevant and where attending to the content is essential to an appreciation of the work, Guernica being just one example. Works do vary as to the degree to which they are representational, but this difference is not what determines for us their value as art.
